Japan in 4 days!

I’ve been busy wrapping up all the loose ends and unfinished projects in preparation for my trip back to Japan in just 4 days. We’re flying at some impossible hour in the morning on the Sunday, and while most people would be busy packing, or repacking, on the Saturday, I will be shooting a wedding. I normally wouldn’t schedule a holiday so close to a job, but this came up suddenly and I couldn’t resist… it’ll only be a half day, and we’re going to be shooting in and around the Rocks area in Sydney, which is one of the most beautiful areas of Sydney. Observatory Hill, Argyle place, the Rocks market, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House… how could I resist?

My wife and I will be spending two weeks in Hiroshima, her home town and my second home, with family and friends, and it also gives me a chance to shoot a long time dream personal project — a series of images of Hiroshima that show it for more than just the place where the Americans dropped the bomb. My plan is to publish a book of Hiroshima, and follow it up with an exhibition sometime next year. I’ve already got a collection of images from the two years I lived there, but I’ve planned a shot list and I’m looking forward to spending some of my holiday shooting this project too. it’s been a while since I’ve done any work on any of my personal projects, so it’s time for some creative rejuvenation, along with a well earned holiday!

If I get the chance I’ll even post a few images here, or just keep an eye on my Flickr page.
